Invest Malaysia Day 2026 Highlights Growth Opportunities For Singapore Businesses
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 23 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), CIMB Singapore and the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) have jointly concluded the inaugural Invest Malaysia Day 2026 in Singapore.
The event brought together more than 200 investors and businesses to explore investment opportunities and partnerships in Malaysia.
The organisations said in a joint statement that the forum underscored the growing importance of Singapore-Malaysia economic ties by connecting attendees with representatives from Malaysia’s federal investment agencies, regional development authorities and ecosystem partners.
MIDA chief executive officer Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid said MIDA is committed to helping investors identify suitable locations, understand the regulatory and incentives landscape, and connect with the relevant federal and state agencies. He said MIDA’s coordinated approach aims to facilitate investment decisions and support businesses in establishing and expanding their operations in Malaysia.
“Malaysia offers Singapore businesses opportunities across diverse growth sectors, supported by well-established industrial ecosystems and strong regional connectivity. National initiatives such as the New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030, the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) provide further avenues for investment across manufacturing, the digital economy, logistics, renewable energy, healthcare and advanced technologies,” he added.
CIMB Singapore head of commercial and transaction banking Benjamin Tan said Singapore and Malaysia shared one of ASEAN’s most interconnected economic partnerships, underpinned by deep trade, investment and business links. He said strengthening these connections would be key to unlocking new opportunities across the region as Singapore prepares to assume the ASEAN Chairmanship next year.
SBF chief internationalisation and chief smart enterprise officer of the international business division, Lee Yee Fung, said Malaysia has remained an attractive growth market for Singapore businesses, offering a strategic location, strong infrastructure, a skilled workforce and clear government support for investment.
“Through Invest Malaysia Day 2026, SBF is supporting companies at every stage of their Malaysia journey, from exploration to expansion, with direct access to the federal and state agencies, financial partners, and industry players,” he added.
Held on Oct 22 in Singapore, the event also featured 10 exhibitors, comprising state government agencies and industrial park developers, showcasing investment opportunities and business support available across Malaysia. The exhibition also gave attendees direct access to investment agencies, state representatives, developers and ecosystem partners to discuss market-entry and expansion plans.
