Rubber Market Ends Lower On Regional Futures Weakness, Higher Thailand Output Expected

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 (Bernama) -- The Kuala Lumpur rubber market ended lower on Friday, tracking losses in regional rubber futures markets amid expectations of increased rubber production in Thailand, a dealer said.
She said, nonetheless, further losses were capped by stability in the United States labour market and a weaker ringgit against the US dollar.
“Japanese rubber futures declined sharply, tracking weaker Tokyo equities amid a global stock market sell-off, and were heading for their biggest weekly loss since the week ended June 26,” she told Bernama.
Meanwhile, she said Thailand's rubber production is forecast to increase 1.5 per cent to approximately 4.9 million tonnes in 2026, supported by higher prices encouraging tapping and easing leaf-fall disease risks.
At 3 pm, the price of Standard Malaysian Rubber 20 (SMR 20) was down by 18 sen to 955.50 sen per kilogramme (kg), while latex in bulk eased by five sen to 768.50 sen per kg.
The Kuala Lumpur rubber market will be closed on Monday, Nov 9, for the Deepavali replacement holiday and resume operations on Tuesday, Nov 10.
