Chery’s LUXEED Demonstrates Driverless Parking To Global Media

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 (Bernama) -- Chery Group’s LUXEED brand wrapped up its Global Media Test Drive with a live demonstration of its Super Intelligent Valet Parking (SIVP) system, which parks and retrieves cars without a driver.

Built on environmental perception, local path planning and vehicle motion control, SIVP enables LUXEED vehicles to move through car parks at low speeds, avoid obstacles, find available spaces and park without driver intervention, Chery said in a statement.

During the demonstration, attended by media representatives and key opinion leaders (KOLs) worldwide, the driver left the vehicle before SIVP was activated. Using its sensors and driving algorithms, the car set off on its own, navigating the parking lanes and adjusting its speed and path to avoid obstacles.

The system created real-time, centimetre-level 3D maps of its surroundings as the car reversed and adjusted its position to park centrally in tight spaces.

SIVP also offers one-touch vehicle summoning. After a command was issued through a mobile app, a vehicle parked some distance away unlocked, started and drove itself to a designated pickup point.

Chery said SIVP forms part of LUXEED’s intelligent driving suite, extending driver assistance beyond the journey itself to parking, in line with the brand’s tagline, “Redefining Luxury Through Intelligence”.
