CPO Futures Rally Above RM4,750 A Tonne On Stronger Crude Oil Prices

By Nur Athirah Mohd Shaharuddin

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 11 (Bernama) -- Crude palm oil (CPO) futures on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives closed higher today, rallying above RM4,750 per tonne on stronger crude oil prices amid escalating conflict in West Asia.

Iceberg X Sdn Bhd proprietary trader David Ng told Bernama that the recent robust CPO export demand also provided further support for market sentiment in the near term.

Meanwhile, Mumbai-based Sunvin Group head of commodity research Anilkumar Bagani said CPO futures traded higher today on bargain buying driven by the widening discount against gas oil.

He noted that gains in the Dalian Commodity Exchange’s refined, bleached, and deodorised palm olein futures also supported CPO prices.

Additionally, the rebound in Malaysian palm oil export performance for the Aug 1-10 period help boost prices.
